Location

If you want to be close to all attractions of Ireland’s South-East, Tom’s Country Cottage is the place for you.

We are in a great location, just minutes outside Waterford City on the N24 (Waterford - Limerick Road) and near all the roads connecting to Cork, Waterford, Rosslare (Ferry Port), Wexford, Dublin,  Limerick, Shannon, Galway, West of Ireland, Kerry, Cashel, Killarney, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher and many other tourist hotspots. We are just 1.5 hours away from Dublin Airport and also 1.5 hours from Rosslare Ferry.  Located in the green belt outside Waterford City Centre we have great views of the Comeragh Mountains and the starry skies.

There are plenty of things to see and do nearby, ranging from sight-seeing and cultural activities in the urban centres of Waterford and Kilkenny, to outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, golfing, horse riding, surfing, kayaking, fishing … Ask us if you have a particular interest and we will be more than happy to provide you with information.

Tom’s Country Cottage is the perfect place to make a home from home whilst visiting Ireland on a budget.

 

Travelling from Dublin

Take the M9 Motorway to Waterford and just before Waterford City follow the signs for Limerick/ Mooncoin (N24). Travel through ‘The Quarry Roundabout’. This is the Waterford/ Limerick National Road (N24). Keep the Thatched Cottage Cafe on your right and travel for 6 km straight until you see the sign for the ‘Royal Oak’ pub & ‘AD Test Centre’ on your left-hand side. Take this turn, travel past the pub and take the left hand turn at the carpark (facing the AD Test Centre) and we are just 700 metres from here on the right-hand side signposted Tom’s.

Travelling from West of Ireland Galway/ Limerick/ Shannon Airport

Take the N24 National Road to Waterford and just before Waterford City there is a village called Mooncoin. Take the first turn right after Mooncoin Village. There is a signpost on the right-hand side of this road which points to Carrigeen. There is also a large sign for the ‘Royal Oak’ pub which is a good landmark for your turn. Take the first right (just before the pub carpark, facing AD Test Centre) and we are just 700 metres from here on the right-hand side signposted Toms.

Travelling from Rosslare Car Ferry

Take the N25 / E30 direction to Waterford City. Just before Waterford City follow the signs for Limerick (N 24). Travel through ‘The Quarry Roundabout’. This is the Waterford/ Limerick National Road (N24). Public Transport/ National Bus Service/ Trains

The national bus service offers regular fast connections from all over Ireland to Waterford City Centre. Please visit www.buseireann.ie to see timetables for bus travel and www.irishrail.ie for train timetables. We offer a free pick up at certain times per day from the bus station or the train station in Waterford City. Please enquire about times and request this service at least 24h before arrival. Please note that places are limited.

From Waterford City Centre there are regular buses going to Mooncoin village. Take either bus no. 55 (direction Limerick) or bus no. 355 (direction Carrick-on-Suir) and ask the driver to stop in Mooncoin village. Please visit www.buseireann.ie to see timetables. This is our local village stop and Tom’s Country Cottage is within walking distance (approximately 15 min. walk).

Free Private Parking Available

We offer free private parking at the cottage for guests, open 24 hours/ 7 days a week. Places are limited. Please request to reserve your parking space by e-mail before arriving.
